Tsvetkov Viktor Aleksandrovich (1920-2009)
Representative of the Leningrad school of socialist realism. He studied with his father, a church painter, and also with the icon painter Speransky. Since 1934 he studied at the Academy of Arts. I. E. Repin with B. Ioganson, M. Cheptsov, V. Obolensky (1937-1940). He painted genre paintings and compositions on historical and revolutionary themes, landscapes, and worked with the Leningrad branch of the RSFSR Art Fund. In 1953 he was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. In the same year, the first personal exhibition took place in Leningrad. In 1989, in the artist’s homeland, in the city of Krasny Holm, Tver Region, the V. A. Tsvetkov art gallery was opened. In addition, the artist’s works are presented in the Taganrog Art Museum, the State Russian Museum and in other museum and private collections in Russia and abroad.
